📅 November 12, 2017 • 📍 MARIA BHAVAN, BABLESHWAR

On November 12, 2017, Children’s Day was celebrated for children in the vicinity of Maria Bhavan, Bableshwar, with around $120$ children attending. The theme was "Children and the Environment" and "Children as Co-Creators." The cultural programme included dances and a play about Mother Earth and the need to save it, conveying the environmental message to the attendees. Mr. Bhodak, the Senior-most citizen of the area, was the invited guest. In his talk, he praised the children's presentation and encouraged them to keep their surroundings clean, feel responsible, and spoke about 'Chacha Nehru's' love for children. The theme song for the day was “Hum Balak hai desh ke hum badte jayenge” (We are children of this country, and we will keep marching ahead). Games and dancing followed. The children resolved to keep watch on their surroundings and help keep the place clean. To reinforce the message of saying 'no' to plastic bags, each family was given a cloth bag. Prize distribution and snacks followed. This large group of children went home determined to do their part to save the earth. Children’s Day and World Day of the Poor at Shingada Akada: The day was also celebrated on November 18 with children in the remote area of Shingada Akada, who are enthusiastic but lack facilities. About $20$ children gathered quickly. After a talk on the children of the country, they enjoyed games and received prizes and gifts. The focus remained on Save the Earth - Prevention of the usage of plastic bags with the slogan ‘Carry a bag, not carry bag’. A cloth bag was given to each family, suggesting they use it for the market instead of plastic bags. The children were delighted and very happy.
