Educational Trip for Sahayini Outreach Children to Zoo and Museum
📅 February 10, 2018 • 📍 Wadala
On Saturday, February 10, 2018, the Sahayini Social Development Society, in collaboration with students from the College of Social Work Nirmala Niketan, organized an educational trip for $180$ slum children from Wadala and Navi Mumbai. The trip included visits to the Veermata Jijabai Bhonsle Udyan & Zoo and the Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum in Mumbai. The children enjoyed exploring the museum, gaining insight into Indian history and culture. They also observed a mass display of potted perennial flowering and foliage plants, shady plants, and vegetables at the $23^{rd}$ Horticulture Exhibition in Byculla. They were fascinated to learn about growing plants at home, on terraces, on balconies, and on farms, and were delighted to see the variety of fauna, with the penguins being a special attraction at the zoo. Following a sumptuous lunch, the children toured the museum. They then enthusiastically participated in organized games, and prizes were given to all participants and winners. SSDS provided snacks for all children. Student social workers and staff were acknowledged with a token gift and appreciation. The trip was made memorable by all involved, with special thanks to the student social workers and Don Bosco Alumni, particularly Mr. Jayesh Chandan, for their generous support and sponsorship of the picnic lunch.
