Caring for the sick and the abandoned

From 20th December 2019- 25th April 2020 – Sahayini looked after Mr. Lankesh Patel at TB Hospital in Sewree. Frequent visits were made. Medicines for HIV were brought and provided. Fruits, biscuits, tea, Coconut water was purchased each time we visited. Money was given for small expenses. Clothes were purchased for the sick person. Finally funeral rites were organized for the dead man on 25th April 2020 at Reay Road Samshaan Bhumi.
From 20th December-30th December: Chander Choudary an abandoned and sickly young man was looked after under Wadala bridge. He had no parents and the relatives were not in a position to look after the sick young man. Sahayini volunteers along with Sr. Moksha cared for him for 10 days and tried finding a home to admit him. Before he could be shifted to a home he expired. No one was able to get a death certificate. Sr. Moksha with the help of volunteers Ashok and Ravi managed to convince a local clinic doctor and paid extra money since there were no documents and got the death certificate and helped the relatives to bury the dead person at Shivaji Park.

From 31st December 2019 - 3rd January 2020: Mrs. Shabana Noor from Dalit Nagar under Wadala bridge suffered TB with other complications. She pleaded with Sr. Moksha to admit her in the hospital. With the help of volunteers, she was taken for checkup at TB hospital at Sewree where the doctors advised to admit in KEM. In spite of giving timely treatment she expired on 3rd January 2020. The family was supported to clear the death certificate and burial.
From 23 January 2020 to 31st January 2020: Helped Ms. Laxmi Pawar whose leg was burnt badly. She was fully assisted and was given medical treatment at Cardinal Gracias hospital at Vasai. She was given financial and medical help to cope up with the situation. Sahayini continues to support her education.
Relief work COVID-19- 30 families were given Groceries as immediate relief in collaboration with Prathistan NGO in Wadala. 40 Migrant families were given twice ration kits worth Rs.1000/- each. Anmol married girls were given financial assistance to pay the Rent, Medicine and Groceries. 6 families were provided with Gas for Cooking. Hygiene kits which included Soaps, Sanitizers and Masks were distributed to the needy people.
