On March 10, 2018, the Auxilium Girls Promotion Centre - OROS, organized an empowering day for women from Self Help Groups and young girls from neighboring villages. The $104$ women and $35$ young girls who registered arrived around 10:00 AM, eager to enjoy the day and learn. Animated games were conducted for the early arrivals. The Chief Guest was Mrs. Supriya Valavalkar (Member of the Panchayat Samiti). Guests of Honour included Mrs. Jayashree Kadam (renowned social activist), Mr. and Mrs. Prabhakar Gavde, Mr. Bhujang Bhosle (Probation Officer for DWCD), Mr. Vasant Bambulkar (Village Sarpanch), and Sr. Priscilla Travasso (Superior of Auxilium Girls Promotion Centre, OROS). The celebration commenced with the Chief Guest and dignitaries lighting the lamp and invoking God’s blessings. Mr. Shekhar Samant (Chief Editor of Tarun Bharat) conducted a session titled ‘Today’s Youth: Where They Are and Where They Can Be, and How a Mother Becomes a Guide to Her Children on the Road to Success.’ He stressed the vital role of women in shaping society’s citizens, sharing significant case studies from Sindhudurg. He detailed the gradual progress of children through school and career choice, which served as an eye-opener and a challenge for mothers to be vigilant and supportive. Mrs. Valavalkar addressed the women on their critical role in family and society, urging them to prioritize self-care, rise above current challenges, and move forward in life. Every dignitary shared a short message, encouraging the women to achieve dignity and success. A special feature this year was the felicitation of five women who have significantly contributed to the betterment of society and women’s welfare. After lunch, a dance and singing competition was held, with a majority of the participants taking part and enjoying the activity. The celebration concluded successfully with the distribution of prizes and a final message from Sr. Priscilla Travasso, highlighting the collective effort.
