Girl Child Day programs in Nandgad, Baroda, and Bableshwar

📅 September 08, 2015 • 📍 Nandgad

This entry records three separate Girl Child Day celebrations. The first took place on September 13 for the NCP children of Auxilium - Baroda, featuring a singing competition, a talk on the day's theme, and games. Home-made snacks were provided by the SHG women. The second event was on September 8 at Maria Bhavan - Bableshwar for the village children, coinciding with Mother Mary’s birthday. The celebration began with a short prayer moment, with 40 girls present. Sr. Regina spoke to them about their rights, aided by movie presentations. Lively games were conducted at the end, and snacks were distributed. The girls were encouraged to be proud of being a girl-child. The third program began on September 10 at Nandgad, at Anmol Tangudhama, with the Care-takers serving as resource persons. There were 34 girls present for the program. They were asked, “Are you happy to be a girl?” to which they proudly shouted, “Yes.” They were instructed on self-care and protection from danger, the importance of education, and aiming to achieve success in society. The day ended with a movie on child exploitation.
