📅 March 08, 2016 • 📍 Dakor

On March 8, 2016, Pushpanjali Society - Dakor celebrated International Women’s Day (IWD) with women from 15 villages. The program began with a procession of invited dignitaries, accompanied by the rhythms of Garba. Following a prayer dance by the children of Pushpanjali, the traditional lamp was lit by the special guests, who were welcomed with a basket of fruit. Mrs. Jayashreeben Parmar, the Taluka Agricultural Training Officer, spoke about the qualities of women in building homes and the nation, and the evil of female infanticide. The Chief Guest, Mrs. Mumtazben Sheikh, the Police Sub Inspector (PSI) of Dakor, discussed women's rights and suggested self-protection methods in times of trouble. She cited examples of famous and courageous women, urging the attendees to become aware of their inner power and make the world better day by day. Trophies were distributed to the ideal Self Help Groups (SHGs) amidst cheers for the women who earned this recognition through their hard work and sacrifice. Mrs. Ramilaben Parmar, a very active Sarpanch of Vanoti, and Mrs. Elizaben Gohel, a member of Nagar Palika, were honored with a shawl and a fruit basket. A cultural program followed, performed by the SHG women and the boarders. Numerous spot prizes kept the participants alert and lively until the end. All joined in a fellowship meal and went home carrying sweet memories of this empowering day.
