📅 March 08, 2016 • 📍 Pokran
While the world celebrated International Women’s Day on March 8, 2016, the Auxilium Girls’ Promotion Center – Oros also celebrated it in the lesser-known Pokran village. The program, coordinated by Mrs. Smita Sutar, a field worker, began at 3:30 p.m. with a short prayer. All the women enthusiastically participated in games. As part of a competition, each group presented a unique rice dish. Following a short cultural performance, the Chief Guest, Mrs. Padmashree Sawant, a Police Officer in Pokran, delivered a striking speech. She thanked Sr. Natal Rodrigues for the excellent work done in the village, appreciated the women for moving beyond traditional structures, and expressed hope that Pokran village would one day shine like a city. After the prize distribution, the women departed with the empowering message that they are highly capable of transforming themselves and society.
