New NCP formations, loan benefits, and training programs in Ahmednagar

On June 18, 2016, a new Neighbourhood Children’s Parliament (NCP) was established in Jehur. Mrs. Sangeeta, the Social Worker, expertly organized the program, starting with a traditional welcome by the children for the Salesian Co-operators. Sr. Collette Gonsalves introduced the NCP, explaining its aim, purpose, roles, and responsibilities, which the young girls received enthusiastically. A Co-operator spoke on the importance of education. Stationery and biscuits were distributed to the approximately 80 children and women present. The Co-operators were happy to serve the needy, aligning with Don Bosco's mission. Sr. Collette thanked them for this thoughtful initiative at the start of the new academic year. Revitalization efforts were also held for the NCPs of “Ugani” and “Shivacha mala” a few days prior, gathering 35 children in a mandir to re-energize the group with prayer, an explanation of the NCP, games, and stationery distribution, emphasizing the importance of continuing their education. Additionally, on July 13, 2016, another new NCP was formed in Don Bosco Colony – Savedi. Sr. Collette Gonsalves introduced the initiative with a brief life-profile of the Co-foundress, St. Mary Mazzarello. Social Worker Mrs. Mangal Bodak planned the successful program for the 30 enthusiastic children. Leaders were selected and took an oath during a short prayer service. Snacks were distributed to the children. Loan Benefits: On June 28, 2016, SHG women received training on HDFC Bank loans. To help the SHGs start Income-Generating Programs (IGPs), the HDFC Bank is offering loans of ₹3 to 4 lakhs at low-interest rates with installment payment options. Many women have happily taken advantage of this to start personal IGPs. Tailoring Course: The Zilla Udyog Kendra – Ahmednagar commenced a one-month Tailoring course for city women on July 3. Three SHG women were selected, receiving a Government certificate and a stipend of ₹1,000 each. Workshop on Government Scheme and Bank Loan: A workshop on Government Schemes and Bank Loans for SHG women was held on July 23 at Laura Vicuna Niwas – Savedi. Officers from various departments were invited, including the Agricultural Department, Zilla Samaj Adhikari Asst. Project Officer, D.R.D Officer, and Mahila Sabalikarn officer. They informed the attendees about available schemes and projects that could benefit women and farmers, and courses for school dropouts that provide Government certificates. The officers were highly helpful and cooperative, raising hopes for improving the conditions and lifestyles of the women and farmers.
