Anmol Tangudhama Dhamaka: A Celebration for Specially Challenged Children, Belgavi

The ANMOL THANGUDHAMA DHAMAKA was a major event held on January 8, 2017, at ANMOL THANGUDHAMA β Belgavi. Thousands of students, teachers, specially challenged children from schools for the blind, deaf, and mute, and residents from homes for the aged gathered at the Centre. Sr. Anita Gracias and staff organized the event, supported by hundreds of volunteers from NGOs like SMILE, Make A Difference, and Ray of Hope. The program began at 9:30 a.m. with registration and breakfast, followed by lively games led by the volunteers. Mr. Anand Lobo, a member of the Child Protection Committee at the Belgavi State level, conducted an important session on child protection from physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, and provided information on the POCSO Act. At 2:00 p.m., the Chief Guest, Shri U.T. Khader (Minister of Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Karnataka), arrived. He was welcomed with a band performance by students of AUXILIUM - Nandgad. The Chief Guest and other dignitaries inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp and were welcomed in traditional style by Sr. Shanthi Fernandes, Headmistress of Auxilium. A prayer dance dedicated to St. Mother Teresa of Kolkata was presented. Sr. Reshma Rosario gave a brief history of Anmol Thangudhama. Mr. Khader spoke, expressing his appreciation for the Sisters' social work and his gratitude for the values instilled during his education in a Convent school. He emphasized, βThe work of Religious Sisters is always permanent and eternal.β He requested the students to study well and build a good future. Sr. Anita Gracias thanked the Special Guests for their wholehearted cooperation and involvement in the Anmol Dhamaka. After lunch, schools presented meaningful cultural items. Each participant received a Certificate and a bag containing useful items. The day concluded with a note of thanks for the guidance and joy brought to all, especially the specially challenged children.
