Children’s Day Celebrations Focused on Child Protection Policy, Oros

Children’s Day was celebrated by the Auxilium Girl’s Promotion Centre – Oros on January 1, 2017, at the Pokhran ZP School, Sindhudurg, with the theme: “Safety of Children, Safety of Nation”, aligning with the Child Protection Policy (CPP). The event welcomed 175 children from Pokhran, Kunde, and Kusbe. Mr. Harishchandra Pangam, Sarpanch of Pokhran village, praised the Sisters and the Institute for their work promoting the welfare of children and women, and assured his full support. Sr. Vandana Malya, the local Social Coordinator, and Mrs. Smitha Sutar, Field-work Staff member, led a session on CPP, highlighting important considerations for children and adults. The session was informative, teaching children how to protect themselves and others in dangerous situations. More than 15 women attended the sessions. The children enjoyed games and a cultural program. A second Children's Day celebration was held on January 8 for 127 children from Shetkarwadi – Pinguli, at the Nerur Church premises, using the same theme. Sr. Vandana and Mrs. Meenakshi Bhalekar, Field-work Staff member, spoke on the theme. This event also saw the participation of over 20 women who appreciated the CPP sessions. The children went home happily after the games and cultural program.
